Hypnosis! Is it not working?
In working with clients, sometimes they have communicated their fears that Hypnosis isn’t working… I wanted to share what I communicate back to them, as I find if one person is experiencing it, then possibly other clients are.
There are a few ways to look at this situation.
One, that there is an underlying belief that “I can’t be helped” and that is blocking progress.
Two, that we have started to address things but have not found a big piece of the pie yet so we’re not seeing a massive shift. Ie; someone has self esteem issues and we’ve been looking at ways they can love themselves but they actually have a belief of “I’m not good enough” running the show and that is the root of the problem.
Three, that things are shifting in minor ways that are harder to notice. (which is the most common) ie; that things have been less stressful, but maybe it’s just been an easier week, or being triggered less but maybe there have just been less situations that have been triggering me.
The third situation is very common, it creates an impression that the hypnosis isn’t doing anything, when in fact it is, it’s just not *flash* *bam* dramatic. So the hypnosis is working, it’s making your life easier and less stressful and sometimes it can seem easier to write it off to a good week or circumstance, but this also removes the power from you and the work that you have done to improve your life. So acknowledge what you have done and credit yourself for these improvements, it makes it easier on you to face the bigger stuff. This is how we build resilience.
This really comes down to you, I fully believe in your ability to shift out of this, though it does depend on your feelings/wants/desires/dedication to it. In saying this I am not implying that you do not have any of these things. I believe you do. If you feel you have nothing further to gain or work with then that is alright. I cannot change that. Though if you feel other things are at play, perhaps a fear that you cannot be helped or are stuck with the way you are and just have to deal with it, or that you were not recognizing that things have been shifting for you. Then we can work with that.
It’s all about how much you feel you are capable and willing to explore what is at play in what you are experiencing.
I have seen people make incredible changes and healing journeys with hypnotherapy, all with the attitude of facing the challenges that arise.
Sometimes when these things come up, it is a bit of the fear of what the change of our whole selves will bring and create in the world.
In short, I believe it can work for you. Let me know what you’re going though, and if you’re open to it, we’ll see what we can do.
